Short for Weblog
Uses a regularly updated journal format to reflect the interests, opinions, and personalities of the author and sometimes site visitors

Collaborative Web site that allows users to create, add to, modify, or delete the Web site content via their Web browser
Open public for everybody
- Online social network
Encourages members to share their interests, ideas, stories, photos, music, and videos

- Content Aggregator
Business that gathers and organizes Web content and then distributes, or feeds, the content to subscribers for free or a fee

What graphics formats are used on the Web?
BMP,GIF,JPEG,PNG,TIFF

Images often displayed by thumbnail-a small icon that present the image in smaller size. Whenever you click on it, often the full size image will appear. This reduced the display time of the web page that included many images to load.

What is animation?

Appearance of motion created bydisplaying a series of still images in sequence. Animation is used very often on the Web for advertising and decoration.

Today, I'll discuss more about the Internet and the Web.

How can you gain access to a web page?

- Whenever you type a correct address on your address bar, the web server delivers the web page to your computer.

What is downloading?

- With some specific programs and depends on your connection speed. You can download anything from the Internet (music, videos, datas, programs,.... ) in an amount of time by few seconds if your connection speed is fast or few hours if slow.

How can you recognize links?

- Pointer changes to a small hand when you point to a link

- A link can be text or an image

- Text links are usually underlined and in a different color

How can you search forwebpages that have the imformation you are looking for?

- There are some websites that provide the search engine. When you type a search text or keyword about what you want to search for. A list of web pages containing that keyword will appear so that when you click on it, it will lead you directly to that website.

The most common search engine web page is Google (http://www.google.com/)

What are the twelve basic types of Web sites?

- Portal, News, Informational, Business - Marketing, Educational, Entertainment, Advocacy, Blog, Wiki, Social Network, Content Aggrigator, Personal.

I, as a teenager, like the Entertainment websites most that I can meet and communicate with my friends and share our ideas.

Today, I'll continue writing about what I've learned about the Internet and the Web. As you known, I introduced you about the history of the Internet and how it has grown overtime. Now I will talk about some characteristics and main components, applications of the Internet:

What is the World Wide Web?

- A worldwide collection of electronic documents (also called the Web)

- Each electronic document is called a Web page.

- Can contain text, graphics, audio, video, and built-in connections

- A Web site is a collection of related Web pages

What is a Web browser?

- Program that allows you to view Web pages such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Opera, Safari.

In my computer, I have both Internet Explorer and Firefox because in my experiences of using those, Firefox give you fast access to the webpage but some webpages and contents only work on Internet Explorer. Safari is the common program for viewing the webpage on iPhone, iPod Touch, and other mobile devices.

Phew! The new blog for this year! The last 2 blogs I posted last year are collecting dust! Now I will write about some ICT stuff. Actually, I have to write... Anyway, today we talk about the Internet and The Web, the biggest online society for communication.


So, when was the Internet invented and what were its goals?


- The Internet was created by the ARPANET
Networking project by Pentagon’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA)


- The Internet first became functional in September 1969.


- The Internet was successful in providing an online network that would work even when the local area network is disabled. It also allows scientists at different locations to share information.


How has the Internet grown to become the fastest growing society of 20th century?


- 1969: 4 host nodes


- 1984: More than 1000 host nodes


- Today: More than 500 million host nodes


Who has control over the Internet?


- No one, it is a public, cooperative, and independent network .


- Several organizations set standards


How can you connect to the Internet?


- Slow speed connection: Using Dial-up connection that must be establish everytime you turn on your computer. The modem is connected to your standard telephone line.

- High-speed connection: Using DSL, cable modem,FTTP, fixed wireless, wireless modem, Wi-Fi, and satellite modems. The connection is always on whenever the computer is running.



What are ways to access the Internet?



1.ISP, Regional or National
2.OSP (AOL and MSN, for example)
3.Wireless Internet Service Provider



What is a domain name?

- Text version of Internet protocol (IP) address

* IP address is the number that uniquely identifies each computer or device connected to Internet

ROOM 703

The school AIS has 7 floors, each floor has a clock. On seventh floor, the clock has stopped running for years. People not usually go on seventh floor. There are 2 rooms 701 and 702, both for gym and exercise. The technology and machines are old and out-dated. People just come there as a secret place for studying and for couples. One day, the light runs out, and it’s raining outside. Alex is sitting on the desk on seventh floor. She looks at the clock but she realized its not running. The candle on the old shelf is running out. Everything seems strange and unusual. She tried to call her friend but her cell phone ran out of battery. She felt so scary and she suddenly saw something. She thought that was some one is watching her. She felt so scared.

“Hello!” said Alex
“Hello!” repeated the strange voice.
“Anybody here?”
“Anybody here?” repeated the voice again.
“Please help me!”
“Please help me!” the strange voice again.
“STOP!!!!” cried Alex as loud as she could.
“STOP!!!!” the voice again.
“Please don’t kill me” Alex shouted.
“May be not” laughed the void out loud.
“Who are you?”
“I’m the ghost of the room 703”
“There is no room 703”“There is! Now, turn the clock to exactly 12 and you will see”

Alex did what he said, she touch the clock and the glass broke immediately, she turned it to 12 o’clock. Then, the ground moves. She couldn’t know clearly what happen but one side of room 702 and the toilet is opening. It showed a amazing structure that hidden for many years. Another room appears and on top of the door there is number ‘Room 703’. Alex opened the door and look inside. There is nothing strange about the room. It was just a normal classroom. But, there are people there, she can see the students are sitting there and the teacher is teaching on the board. Then, Alex come and look at them, they are all plastic people. Their eyes looked cold and emotionless. Alex tried to get out of the room but she couldn’t. The door has looked. She looked around and find someway to escape. There is a window that has blood on it. There is a word say “Die! You made me die and you need to pay!” The bloody word made Alex remember about the story about the man had killed inside the school but nobody know where he died. She looked back at one of the table and saw one boy with his face down and shaking. Alex thought that the plastic body is breaking so she come and check it. She come nearby and put her hand on the body back. She felt warm and soft not like plastic. Suddenly, the boy’s head drop and his body fell of the chair. Blood burst out everywhere. Alex hands are now full of blood. The boy’s eyes looked at Alex in an angry way. His head touch Alex leg and she jump back. Her back touch another body and it also fall. Then, all the sculpture inside the room fell of. Blood everywhere, Alex cried, shout, she gone crazy, she was so scare but helpless. The voice appears with a shadow.

“That’s how I died, a bully cut my head and break my whole body” said the voice.
His hand touched Alex shoulder that make her sit down, her hands on her head.
“Don’t kill me, I didn’t do anything” cried Alex.
“I won’t kill you; I just try to show you my sadness. I was a boy who scares everybody and I don’t hurt anyone. I’m sorry that I made you scare.”

The shadow disappeared and the door is open now. Alex calm down and she sit on the chair, restless. She felt sorry for that boy and she known he is a good man. She decided to stay. Her sweat and tears make her wet. She stands up and call.

“What’s your name?” asked Alex
“I’m Michael” said the voice
“Can I see your face?”
“NO! You will be scare!”
“I won’t scare, I feel apologize for you. I want to help you.”
“No one can help me.” Michael said in a very sad voice. “Please go!”
“How can I meet you?”
“Every Friday you can come up here and see me.”
“Okay, I’ll come” Alex said in very pleasant voice.

Alex come and sees Michael every Friday. Although Michael’s face is very pale and his face always shine and sad, Alex made him happier and they forgot that old day.
